When I moved to Spain

Let's admit moving from places to places is hard. Why? Because you'll leave everything behind. You start making a new life again. New house, new friends, new job, new food, new environment or it could be a new language.

I am a Filipina who moved to Spain the last 12 months. I really had a rough time adjusting. Considering that I don't speak Spanish. Everything was new for me. I couldn't communicate well with the people. I arrived here the 2nd of September and I started going to school 10 days after. Imagine a Filipina girl being mixed with Spanish people. All I could hear was babbling. I couldn't process everything that they were saying. Gladly, a group of two girls approached me. They asked if where am I from, and what grade level am I in. I said I am in 10th grade. Sadly, they are from a lower grade, but a group of girls heard our conversation and they took me into their group. Time passed after 2 months I was adjusting little by little. I passed some of my exams (notice the "some" haha). And then the 1st evaluation came. Out of 10 subjects that I had, I failed 6! Imagine that? I transformed from being the best student to a failing student real quick. I was really down at that time. But that motivated me to do better. The 2nd evaluation came, I failed 3. And then at the final evaluation, I still failed 3. But the good thing is they consider students. I had to take an exam in able to get into baccalaureate (they consider baccalaureate here as senior high school). And now I am able to continue my studies. My Spanish level? Still in the basic level, but I could say that I improved a lot. I met a lot of people and made friends. In addition, I had the chance to experience Spanish culture which is I am still practicing.

So the purpose of this blog is to tell you guys that it might be hard at first but eventually, you will cope up and adjust. And I realize that you won't be able to discover new things if you don't move or think out of your comfort zone. I am not telling you to travel nor to move places but I am telling you to let yourselves explore things and learn from it. So to all the persons out there who are moving places, be patient and just be yourself. If you are going to move here in Spain, hit me up! We might be friends who knows (*wink* *wink*). Cheers to us!

Here are some photos that I cherish the most.
